Life and Death....

My dear Amin,

Ibu just celebrated birthday yesterday and today, Tok Bah (my father) passed away at 5.55am on May 6th, 2006 in hospital HUKM. He was admitted to hospital for the second time for his leukimia (CML) last Tuesday. His red blood cell count was so low and very thick, so his heart was stressed. He passed away due to heart attack.

Last time Ibu saw him was last Wednesday at lunch break. Ibu took a 2-hour lunch break and went to hospital to visit him. He was very weak. Aunty Eman brought some veggie soup, porridge and tempe for him. He didn't eat much. Aunty Eman and Ibu ended up eating most of the food... When Tok Bah saw me, first thing he asked was you. Last time he saw you was 2 weeks ago, on 22nd April 06. During Labor day weekend, we came back from Melaka on Sunday. I thought I could take you to see Tok Bah on Monday, but we ended up going to Janda Baik, so I didn't get a chance to take you to see him.

When Tok Bah asked about you on Wednesday, I told him that I will take you to visit him on Saturday and he just smiled. Thursday and Friday Ibu had training in Sunway, so I couldn't go to visit him. Saturday morning at around 6.10am, Pak Long called to inform Ibu that Tok Bah was in critical condition and the doc asked all the children to come to hospital. Actually, Tok Bah already passed away at 5.55am, but Pak Long didn't want to inform yet until we arrived at the hospital. When Ibu entered the high dependency ward, Ibu could hear someone cried and my heart was racing. Once I reached there, Tok Bah was already covered with white cloth and I just couldn't move on. Ibu just turned back and hug Ayah and cried. Once Ibu calmed down, Ibu went to Tok Bah and gave him a kiss.

Tok Bah's body was brought back to his house in Sg. Merab at around 10am. We left hospital at 8am and went home first to change clothes and take whatever necessary for the rest of the day. When we arrived at the house, it was almost 11am and there were lots of ppl already. He was buried after the zohor (afternoon) prayer. Tok Bah left a wife (my step-mom, Tok cik), 11 children (4 from 2nd marriage and 7 from 1st marriage) and 10 grandchildren.

The only thing that made me sad sometimes was I didn't get a chance to take you to see him before he passed away. I should have taken you to see Tok Bah that Monday, on labor day holiday. As for Ibu, I had a chance to take care of him while he was admitted to hospital last February. I've visited him quite often when he was there for 6 weeks. Last week when he was readmitted for the second time, at least Ibu got to see him once and spent few minutes with him, fed him and kissed him to show my love.

Semoga rohnya ditempatkan di kalangan orang2 yg beriman, dijauhi daripada seksa kubur dan dimasukkan ke dlm syurga.... Amiiinnn....... Tok Bah, one day, we'll meet again. Miss you!

Chal, last year my father in law passed away in a shock too...tiba2 sesak nafas eventhough he was healthy all the while.Beliau pergi tanpa menyusahkan anak2...imagine how we felt...kalau Allah nak ambil nyawa sekelip mata.Bersyukur chal had the chance to care for him...anyhow...hope you will be much stronger... Happy birthday to Ibu....
Happy birthday to me....

My dear Amin,

Today is Ibu's birthday.... Every year, if you are thinking of getting Ibu a present, there's only one present I want from you, which is more valuable than anything else in this world. I'd like you to sedekahkan Ibu Al-Fatihah and bacakan surah Yaasin and pray that I have longer and healthier life, so I can see you (and maybe your brothers/sisters later) grow up sebagai orang yg berguna, yang beriman dan berbakti pada Allah, keluarga, bangsa dan negara.

Walaupun dah terlambat....tapi nak gak join....
Happy birthday to you....
Happy birthday to you...
Happy birthday to Ibu....

Labor Day Weekend

Monday, May 1st, was a labor day holiday in Malaysia. We went to Melaka (Malacca) on Saturday and came back on Sunday to avoid the traffic. We had ikan bakar (grilled fish), crabs, squid/calamari, kangkung ikan masin (veggies with salted fish) and rice. It was so delicious since the seafood are fresh. I even forgot to take the picture of these dishes. The weather was really hot. It didn't even rain. Amin had rashes everywhere so most of the time we took off his shirt.

Sunday evening, we went to Janda Baik and stayed there overnight. It was a bit cooler in the mountain. We came back Monday afternoon. Amin was exhausted. He went to sleep at 7.30pm and didn't wake up until 11.30pm, when I was ready to go to bed. I thought he was going to sleep for an hour only. I gave him 5 oz milk, finished it and went back to sleep all the way till 6am. Poor guy. It must have felt good to sleep on his own bed again

Busy Saturday

Sarah and Amin

Saturday morning at 8am, we took Amin to Pasar Tani (Farmer's Market) nearby. We put him in a stroller and push him so at least we got our exercise that morning

Oh, when I was feeding him, I could see his tooth is coming out from the bottom. At first I thought I only saw one, but then I could also see next to it another white tooth coming out.

Picture: Sweet potato for breakfast

Later in the afternoon at 2pm, we met our friends and they brought along their 1-year old daughter, Sarah. We had lunch at Chilli's. We sat by the corner, so it was easy for us to manage these 2 little kids. Then we went shopping. Got new shoes for Amin. Later when the weather was not too hot, we went to the park at KLCC. Sarah dipped into the water while Amin just watched. Poor guy. We didn’t have extra clothes for him. We left KLCC at 7pm.

Picture: Amin with Ayah at KLCC park. Amin with his new shoes

All these pics are taken using my camera phone. Some of the pics were taken using 1600x1200 pixels setting. The last few pics I changed the setting to 1152x864 pixels. One thing I notice it took approx. 2-3 seconds longer to snap the pictures when I clicked the button.

Play, eat and sleep.... that's all Amin has been doing this week.

Acu man (my brother) is in China at the moment and he has my digital camera, so the only camera left with me is my handphone camera. It's Samsung SGH-D600 and comes with 2.0 megapixel. Unfortunately, the pics taken here were using the default setting, which has lower resolution (800x600) so not very clear. I've changed the setting to 1600x1200 now, but will see how the pics turn out later.

History Lesson - Maulidur Rasul

Family Tree
My Dear Amin,

Today Ibu is giving you a history lesson about our beloved prophet Muhammad saw (pbuh - peace be upon him).

Last Tuesday we celebrate the birthday of our prophet. He was born on 12 Rabiul Awwal (22 April 571 AD) in the family of Banu Hashim, a direct descendent of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). His father died when he was still young and his grandfather, Abdullah, took care of him. As a custom at that time, each child was entrusted to a Bedouin-foster mother in the desert so that the child becomes strong and healthy. His grandfather passed away while he was at his foster home. Soon after he came back from foster home, his mother passed away. He was only 8 years old then. He was then taken care by his uncle, Abu Talib, who was a generous man but hardly able to provide for his family.

Due to hardship, Muhammad had to learn earning his livelihood at a young age. He became a shepherd and when he turned 10 years old, he followed his uncle to Syria to do business. As he grew older, his name became known across Arabia. He was respected by various tribes and helped to revive an institution, which was known as 'Pledge of Virtues'. Members of this institution pledged themselves to 1) keep peace among various tribes 2) to protect travelers from attacks on their journey 3)to help the poor and needy and 4) to protect the weak from their oppressors.

Muhammad had a noble character. His piety, good manners, honesty and trustworthiness made him a respected by everyone and had no enemies. And thus, people gave him the title 'Al-Amin', which means the trustworthy. And my dear son, that's why Ibu agreed to name you Amin when Ayah suggested it. Ibu hope you will grow up with this noble character. Not only will you gain all the good things in this world, but you will also gain the hereafter. All the luxuries in this world are temporary, but you still need to work hard and be successful and respected in this world, and use your wealth to gain great abundance in the hereafter for eternity.

At the age of 40, Muhammad received the first divine revelation in the month of Ramadan.

‘Read, in the name of Allah who created (everything). He created man from a clot of blood. Read, your Lord is Great who taught you but virtue of the pen that which you did not know.’

On 12 Rabiul Awwal, 632 AD (11 Hijrah), Prophet Muhammad passed away at the age of 63.

Congrats sis....
