This week starts the 2-week school holiday. We are sending the kids to my mother (in Kajang) for one week and another week to my in-laws (in Bentong). Their grandparents requested them to stay at kampung during the school holiday.
Before we send them, we decided to take them to Tasik Titiwangsa for a morning walk. We have not been there for about a year and we were so surprised when we got there. The place is a lot nice and cleaner. There's a new playground area for various ages. Amin and Ammar had a blast.
Then, we took the paddle boat. Ammar was frightened at first. He just sat in the middle and not moving looking at the water. Amin took another boat with Ayah. Amin was enjoying the ride. After a few minutes, Ammar felt more comfortable and ready to join Amin and Ayah.

My spiritual journey - Madinah & Mekah: March 2009
|
|
It has been a while since I last updated this FP.
Last month, Aswi and I went for our spiritual journey to Madinah and Mekah. We left KLIA on Tuesday, March 5th. We went to Madinah first and visited Madain Saleh.
Madinah is a city of Prohet Muhammad SAW. We stayed there for 3 days.
Madain Salleh is a historical city where the people of Thamud during Prophet Salleh a.s. lived. It tooks about 4 hours of driving by bus. We stayed there overnight and came back to Madinah.
Our journey to Mekah took us about 5 hours drive down south. We arrived at 9.30pm, checked in, had a dinner and then we did our first umrah. We also visited Taif, about 1.5 hour drive from Mekah. It is a bit cold. We stayed there one night.
We left Mekah on Sunday, March 15th. Stopped by around Jeddah before went to the airport. We arrived at KLIA on Monday, March 16th.
Alhamdulillah, it was a great journey for both of us. God willing, we would come here again with our family.

Paris - Feb 11, 2009 (Day 6)
|
|
On Day 6, on the last day in Paris, God finally accepted my prayer... The sun was out early so the first place we went to was visiting the Eiffel Tower. I went to this area on my first day when the weather was nice but since I was alone (Aswi was working), I decided to wait for Aswi's day off to go up the tower with him.
Then we went to Champs-Elysees to the Disney store and got something for Ammar for his birthday present.
Then we went to Le Halle again and walked all over the area. FInally we were so tired. We stopped at Shakespeare bookstore, facing Notre Dame. THe night was getting colder and our feet were getting tired.
We went back to our friend's place, Christelle and Vincent. They took us out for dinner on our last night there. And after dinner, they gave us a special tour at night. It was beautiful.
It was starting to rain heavily when we stopped at Trocadero to take this picture.

Paris - Feb 9, 2009 (Day 4)
|
|
Our agenda on Day 4 was to visit 2 chateaus: Blois and Chambord.
We stayed overnight at Best Western Le Vincci Loire Valley Hotel. It was a very nice hotel with moder deco and we got upgraded to a superior room since there were nobody there, except us and another guest. We paid EUR65 for the room.
The next day, we started our day early. We left the hotel at 8am towards Blois. On the way there, we passed by another chateau: Chaumont. Very nice as well but it only open at 10am. We got there at 8.30am and we didn't want to wait. At 9am, we arrived at Blois. It was a nice city. THe chateau is in the middle of the city on the hill facing the river.
Chateau of Blois is a unique chateau because it has 4 wings with different architecture design. THe main entrance is build during Louis XII and has a Flamboyang style (the red bricks).
Another wing has an influence of Renaissance style. The staircase is knows as the Francois I staircase. It has an influence from Italy but still has French influence. We spent about 2 hours here before we had lunch at the city. It was a very nice city. Unfortunately, lots of shops closed on Monday
Our next stop was Chateau of Chambord. It's about half an hour journey. This chateau is huge. The area itself so big. Unfortunately, it was very cold and windy. It would have been nicer during spring/summer.

Paris - Feb 8, 2009 (Day 3)
|
|
By 9.00am we started our journey to the Loire Valley. We visited 2 chateaus today: Chenonceau and Amboise.
By 11 am, we arrived at Chateau Chenonceau. This chateau was given to Diane de Poitiers by the French King Henri II. Diane was his mistress. After King Henri II died, the legitimate wife, Queen Catherine, demanded the castle from Diane and prepared to use armed forced to get it back. Diane, in exchange, was given Chateau Chaumont (not far from here), but it was no replacement for Chenonceau. This chateau is also know as a Lady Chateau. It will definitely look beautiful during spring/summer.
By 2pm, we were on the road to Chateau Amboise. It's not that far from Chenonceau, probably about 20 minutes drive. We had lunch at the city of Amboise before we visited the chateau. The chateau is located up the hill by the river. It is for Louis XI, with his wife, Queen Charlotte of Savoy. During Charles VIII, he wanted to make Amboise as one of the most outstanding in the world.
We finished touring the area around 4.30pm. We started walking around the neighborhood and found several houses attached to the wall of the castle. This particular one looks so neat and cozy. I wonder how the inside looks like.
Then we stopped by at Chateau de Clos-Luce, a place where Leonardo da Vinci died. We didn't tour the garden coz it was already 6pm and getting very cold.

Today morning, we went towards Montmatre to have our breakfast. It was a small and nice neighborhood. I quickly fell in love with the place. However, it was an expensive neighborhood. We walked up the hill until we reached the Sacre-Coeur, which is a Romano-Byzantine church completed in 1914.
It was cloudy that day, so we didn't see the Eiffel Tower from here. Otherwise, the view would have been very nice.
On the way back, we walked to a different direction, which is the red-light district. Stopped by in front of Moulin Rouge to take a picture.
By 11am, we checked out the hotel and went to Aswi's friends, Christelle and Vincent. It was nice of them to let us stay at their apartment throughout our stay. They must be tired entertaining us. They were such a wonderful host.
In the afternoon, we went to Opera/Haussmann (shopping) area. It was cold that day and snowing a bit.

Paris - Feb 6, 2009 (Day 1)
|
|
Arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport at 6.30am. Took the cab to Aswi's hotel at almost 8am. We went for a quick breakfast and then Aswi left for work, leaving me alone in the hotel. I rested for a while. Weather was really nice that day so at 10am, I left the hotel, took the metro line #2 from Place de Clichy to Charles de Gaulle Etolle station. That took me straight to Arc de Triomphe.
1. Arc de Triomphe.
This is the world's most famous triumphal arch, which was completed on 1836. It was beautiful. I didn't go all the way up though.
2. From here, I started walking along Avenue des Champs-Elysees. This is where all the expensive shopping areas. Didn't get anything from here.
3 & 4. From Champs-Elysees, I kept walking until I reached at the other end, the famous Musee du Louvre. It was quite a long walk but the view was beautiful. I didn't go inside either. Even if I spend half a day in this museum, I will only view 1/4 of the whole museum. It is huge!
5. Next, I walked along the river. The view in this picture is the Pont Neuf, a small island called Ile de La Cite. The Notre Dame is located in this island.
6. My next stop was the Trocadero. It was quite a long distance to walk from Notre Dame so I decided to take the tour bus, which took me all around the city. I stopped at the Trocadero, where you can see the water fountains and gardens. It would be a nicer view during spring/summer. From here, my next stop was Eiffel Tower. For my first day, I didn't go up. I wanted to wait for my honey.
7. By the time I left the Eiffel Tower, it was almost 3pm. I took the tour bus again and stopped at Notre Dame. Then I took the metro from Cite station. By the time I arrived at the hotel, it was almost 4pm.

Late Entry on My Baby's Birthday Celebration
|
|
On Saturday, Jan. 3rd, I threw a surpised birthday party to my baby Aswi. Thanks to our friends and family for making this happened.
At first, the surprised party was supposed to be on Sunday (Jan 4th) since Sunday is usually his golf day. So confidently, I arranged with my friends to come in the afternoon because Aswi usually go in the morning and come back around 3pm.
But then on new year's day, Aswi dropped me a bomb. He said he's golfing on Saturday with my cousin so he will be available on Sunday to spend time with me and the kids. I panicked. I had to contact all my friends and families to change the time and thankfully, almost all of them could make it to the surprised party.
The party started late since Aswi tee-off at noon, so he only came back after 7pm. So at 6pm, my friends and family started coming. We had to stored all the shoes inside the shoe cabinet and turned off the lights. He came home at around 7.45pm and sure enough, he was very surprised.
I ordered an Arsenal birthday cake. And all my boys were wearing Arsenal jersey
Again, thanks to everyone for making this happened.
Aswi's birthday is on Jan 5 (monday) so my two little boys and I took Aswi to Madam Kwan's for his birthday dinner.
Happy Birthday honey! I love you very much
Semoga panjang umur dan sihat, dimurahkan rezeki dan diberkati Allah swt.
